Chewin' Gum

Eleanor chewed her first piece of gum today. I've been chewing gum a lot lately, (mostly to keep me from eating!) and Eleanor and Jon David think it's really funny. Especially when I blow a bubble. "Again! Again!" They like to stand with big smiles of anticipation and wait for me to blow one so they can poke it with their grubby little fingers. Then they squeel in delight, "Blow a bigger one, Mommy! A BIG, BIG, BIIIIG ONE!"

So, after lunch, I put half a piece of gum in my and left the other half sitting on the counter. Eleanor walked by and eyed it a few times. I got a wild hair and asked if she wanted to try it. Silly question! She popped it in her little mouth and exclaimed "Look at me, Eleanor, I can chew gum like Mommy! HOORAY for ELEANOR!", while she skipped in circles all around the house. She was so darn proud of herself!

I asked her what it tasted like and she said "Like candy, Mommy...like toothpaste...like chocolate!" I gotta get me some of that chocolate toothpaste.

Then she wanted me to teach her how to blow bubbles which was a disaster, but she didn't care! I think if you looked up "giddy" in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Eleanor smiling ear-to-ear, chomping away on her first piece of gum.
